CableLabs® and EuroCableLabs™ Set EuroCableNET Pavilion at Broadband World Forum Europe

Louisville, Colorado, September 22, 2005—CableLabs® and EuroCableLabs (ECL) have announced that eight companies will participate in the EuroCableNET Pavilion that is part of the 2005 Broadband World Forum to be held October 3–6 in Madrid, Spain, at the Palacio Municipal de Congresos.

The 2005 EuroCableNET participating companies are BigBand Networks, CableMatrix, Camiant, Cauldron Solutions, C-COR, Ceon, Nortel Networks, and Nuera Communications.

Broadband World Forum is organized by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) to examine the latest developments in broadband technologies. More information on the show is available at www.iec.org/events/index.html.

“This showcase provides a great opportunity for our industry suppliers to demonstrate the technologies that have made cable a leader in providing broadband services,” said CableLabs President and CEO Dr. Richard R. Green.

According to Dirk Jaeger, Director of Emerging Technologies for EuroCableLabs: “EuroCableNET is a great opportunity for EuroCableLabs and the cable industry to showcase its standards developments and emerging technologies work to the European broadband industry.”

Patterned after the CableNET® showcase that is co-sponsored by CableLabs and the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) as part of the NCTA annual convention, EuroCableNET will include separate displays by each participating company. Technologies and services that they will demonstrate include 160 Mbps transmission, PacketCable Multimedia™ applications, video on demand, Internet Protocol video (IPTV), broadband wireless delivery of services and Voice over IP (VoIP).

ECL is the European centre of excellence for broadband cable technologies and represents European cable operators on technical matters. ECL contributes to technical developments and provides a point of contact for member companies and the link with other interested communities. ECL has 20 member companies.
